Think they did a good job on this piece. It was a truly embarrassing moment for the firm, but I think it’s being handled as well as can be expected. Should go smoothly this year 🤞

I had a report like that. Tried to give them advice and they played victim. Maybe your report just needs an outlet. Ask them what they would to solve a problem or what they think the solution is when they vent.
I have on a lot of projects given them advice to fix the issues or offered to help but they usually just say “I know I’m not escalating I just need to vent”. It’s gotten to the point that our receptionist even told me they are sick of it!
If you’ve already spoken with them about it and they played victim and blame game, the next step may be to make it official with HR. Then have another talk and be honest and tell them why it got to this point. It may be the only way they’ll listen. And then if not, unfortunately the next step is obvious.
HR will play both sides usually and make a catastrophic mess. They don’t want a lawsuit
Dealing with this now, what was the outcome? Did you bring in HR? Were you able to convince them to stop whinging?
