In other words, management doesn’t have the technical knowledge you expect them to have ?
Honestly, I'd settle for them doing the minimum requirements from the job description.
I'm at the management level and the lines often get blurry between my department and others. Not because the complexity of the work but because of the lack of response and accountability.
Can you learn to fail up where you are, and just stop caring?
Or do something outside of work to keep learning, even if it’s free/cheap online learning that will still level up your skills?
I'm trying both of these. It's been difficult. I am having trouble turning myself off or down.
Every time I feel I'm learning to look the other way, I'm dragged in to fix other's mistakes or shortfalls.
Welcome to Corporate America where often times it's who you know more than actual competence and performance. The competent, reliable, and diligent are rewarded with more work and that usually means picking up someone else's slack. Sure, there are exceptions, but in my nearly 20 years, this is far too normal.
