It’s a good read but, like many other similar articles, it focuses too closely on work. For example, I’m not blah about life in general. But I truly couldn’t care less about my job now. It’s a paycheck, nothing more or less. That’s not just because of burn out (although that is a factor). It’s more that the past year have really shown me what matters. Most of us hated our jobs before the pandemic and the past year has shown me that my family and other things are what matter. Not arbitrary deadlines dealing with maniacs trying to solve “important” problems I didn’t cause. And no amount of focus or other issues is going to make people in my situation suddenly “care” and devote themselves back to the pursuit of the almighty dollar.
Just so I’m clear, if you feel this way overall towards life, you should 100% get help. If anything, the past year has shown me how precious life is in so many ways.
I feel the exact same way! Haven’t felt like I can characterize myself as depressed, but aimless and unmotivated are so accurate. The word “stagnant” is spot on for me for the last year.

Same.
I really relate to his friend who stays up late to watch national treasure over and over: if there’s one thing that still manages to lift my spirits during these trying times it’s watching Nicholas cage steal the Declaration of Independence.
My friends shared this and we all agreed
This was a good read
Ah, so this is why I began obsessively playing the NYT spelling bee - a search for flow
Also just chiming in to say I also shared this with my friends and we all feel exactly the same way.
Definitely resonates.
