Hi Guys,
I have been assigned to a Unbillable Project, they are building one app and have recruited people from the talent pool. The project is not registered in GLOW. And they are calling it as Voluntary Contribution type project for studio. Is this what they call Internal Project in Globant?
Will there be any impact if I don't perform as per their expectations?
Will it be of any benefit to me if work in voluntary project? Will HR recognize this project contribution as valid work?

This has happened to me countless times (never at Droga though, people are mostly nice here… knock on wood).
One stolen idea I had as a junior went on to a bunch of awards. I was given no credit and it would’ve looked shady AF if I put it in my book… so I didn’t. I just let it go.
Here’s the good news: this industry has a way of working itself out. Creative people always end on top because creativity isn’t finite. They may have stolen one idea, but trust me, if you’re cranking out ideas seniors want to steal early on… you’ll have much better ones later. They won’t. They’ll just keep stealing ideas and their book will be a hodgepodge of mismatched luggage because none of their work is actually theirs.
You’ll be fine, I promise.

Love the idea of you leveraging a promotion to win head to head.
Still you were already winning head to head. The thievery as you describe it is separate and I hate it.
Feels like the record should be set straight, if there's a way to do it coolly and calmly and not create a big stir or headaches for the CD/ECD.

The classic fakers self promotion.
Don't have a solution unfortunately.
Ultimately if your CDs and higher ups are worth their salt they know already and spot this from a mile away.
Like, when I used to review portfolios with my ECD, they were always skeptical and careful about people's role and contribution to the work.
Can you bring this up with your CD?
Curious to hear how others handle this.
Go get your promotion. But, leave them out of it. Focus on your own success. When you make it about who you’ve beat instead of what you’ve achieved, you weaken your case.
This has happened too many times to count at every single agency I’ve been at. It’s not okay, but sadly I’ve found it’s just part of the job. It’s really hard to police this kind of thing and there are always going to be people who have no shame and try to get ahead whatever way they can. (But to those of you who do this, we see you.) I’m sorry this is happening to you and I feel your pain. I don’t have much advice other than to try to not let it consume you. - signed, someone who tries to not let this type of thing consume me
Because we don’t know all the facts, it’s hard to weigh this. You were not given any credit at all? Who claims to have been the copywriter? As an ECD, I know how much work we often have to do to on a concept to make it work for the client, sell it in, improve it, find the right Director, defend it, protect it…. But not giving the person who came up with it any credit is not right.
But many times an idea is a germ in a brainstorm that a lot of people add to and improve, and it becomes bigger and better, as C1 was saying above. Everyone “raises the baby” to make sure we deliver the very best work. So when a writer thinks they get all the credit it can be irritating. But that doesn’t sound like what is happening here.
You should approach your ECD (respectfully) and say that you are disappointed that you aren’t being given the credit due. She should absolutely be willing to listen to you and help correct this.
This has happened to me as I was coming up and it’s happened to teams I manage. Sometimes I knew about it. Oftentimes I didn’t. But you have to make the call on how much this means to you and how willing you are to fight for it and bear whatever consequences may come of it.
As the great Omar from the Wire once said. If you come for the king you better not miss.
Do you have the receipts?
Do you have unequivocal proof that it was yours and got jacked?
Take the CDs and/or ECD through the timeline. Ask for the credit if you feel you deserve it. As a creative it’s all you have in this industry
I’ve got all the proof I need, but I think I’m going to be backhanded about it and go ask for a promotion to their level so that me whooping their ass on every brief can organically come up in that conversation.
This is how the industry works
Do you do this? I get that this happens, but this is not part of the process IMO. I’ve had this happen before, but never this blatantly or by people barely a level above me. A CD or ECD talking about other peoples ideas like they came up with them is totally different than anyone who isn’t at that level doing the same thing.
