I don't like to talk about myself, but my clients aren't there to talk about me. I am confident in my expertise and the product/service I am representing. I keep jokes and banter to a minimum because I am not good at that. As Joe Friday said on "Dragnet," "Just the facts, ma'm." If they want a stand-up routine, they can go to the Saturday night open mic at the Comedy Club.
I tend to be introverted and I'm usually more comfortable dealing with facts and numbers. But when I have to do a presentation, I just think of it as having stage fright. You'll read about actors who have been on Broadway for a long time and they still have stage fright but they just get it together and walk out and do their thing. It's like that, as long as I have command of the material, once I get going the stage fright fades away. It comes down to that moment of courage when I begin, and after that it's fine.

I feel so panicky at the thought of a presentation. I had a panic attack once during a call and it has really impacted me. I feel sick to my stomach and have avoided it at all costs. I’m really not sure how to proceed at this point… genuinely I just want a role where I log on and do the work and not be put in this situation.
Ask open ended to questions to get others talking. People love to talk about themselves even if you don’t (I don’t either).
