How do you deal with being lowballed in the last minute? In the first several rounds of interviewing, I was told there was no problem with the salary range I asked for but ever since the 4th round, they've been pushing back and asking me to settle for a considerably lower range. I need the job, but this just doesn't seem right. Has this happened to you before? I want to know if I'm being taken advantage of or if this is just the culture when hiring.

What is their reasoning for coming in lower than your initial ask? I do not put forward candidates above budget without them knowing they are over budget. No surprises.

Your expectation range may have aligned with what they’d been willing to pay for the role, but they may have determined your actual skill/experience level is more in line with what they’re offering. Most companies have salary bands to maintain internal equity and maybe your expectations were the top of their band, but your experience lands you more on the lower end, within their specific environment.

Ok here’s a question. How many agencies ask their producers to do creative resource management? Enter their schedules into a large database, assign creatives to each part of the schedule, and estimate creative hours for each step. We have no creative resource manager (obviously).

Additional Posts in Ask A Recruiter - Advertising

A recruiter from an agency I admire reached out to see if I’m interested in an ACD role. BUT it is for one of their Pharma clients. How can I tell them I’m not interested in that category? I would like to work with them, but on their traditional/consumer brands. I want them to consider me for other opportunities :-/

I recently saw a job opening at a company that I really love, and would like to apply. The recruiter has posted it on her Linkedin several times, each time with multiple hashtags about diversity. I am straight off the Mayflower white. Does applying look super tone-deaf? Is this an unofficial way of stating that they’re only considering non-white individuals for the role?

found a role i’m really interested in and came across a post about it from hiring manager with a “reach out if you’re interested”. I’ve got a few connections to the company - is it better to try to go through someone I’m connected with in a different department and try to get referred, or just jump on the hiring manager’s post and reach out to them cold?

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.
QUESTIONS:
Should this be in writing in the offer letter?
How detailed should it be? I assume I won't know what goals to set till I start...

I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you

So I've been applying for jobs with various brands who are owned by the same parent company. They are all separate brands but owned by the same company. All my applications are under one login with the parent company's website.
