How do you feel when your work tries to highlight “wins” after they’ve had layoffs? When is the appropriate amount of time do share “wins” after a layoff?

Cynical but honest: I feel very little at this point because I’ve seen it happen so often. I don’t think agency leadership thinks layoffs detract from wins in any way. At the end of the day I don’t think they feel any genuine accountability to keeping people employed at all.

Bingo

Feel like it's less about time and more about how much they've addressed. Personally I don't want to hear about wins until I've gotten the post-mortem on why layoffs happened.

I feel like they have addressed why folks were let go: Lost contracts we thought would be renewing due to funding cuts.

Do they think the pizza and cheap beer would help pay the rent?

I think you have agency leadership who don’t have a true strategy to prosper in the new world order of AI and Marcom. Their numbers tell them to cut headcount but they also know they have to maintain some sense of business normalcy to present a glimmer of employee morale hence the helter skelter nature of management actions. It will only get worse until they figure stuff out.

What could have happened?? I also know some people how interviewed on the same day as mine and got a rejection email today.

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. FAANG offer is slightly higher (though both are a 50+% bump on my current comp). Both would have me reset to entry level. Which one should I take?

Enrolled in Stern for a few weeks.
The number of the alumni and current students that go to top consulting firms FT& summer intern are countless even for a small class size.
Stern is way more than a finance school. Given its location, do you want to spend your 2 years in a rural area or heart of Manhattan? Location is almost everything for business school. (I have a friend in Cornell that frequently travels about 5 hours to NYC for events.)

Been at a new job for a couple of months. Overall it’s been disappointing and I’m starting to feel anxiety for the future. I feel this way because I’ve just been working on one account I really don’t feel will create anything book worthy and I’m afraid that I will have nothing to show after a year. I’d been interviewing with this company for a while (off and on for 7 months+) and during that time made work I’m proud of and as of this past may, is award winning. (continued in comments)

I really think that some large holding companies are ever gonna force us back into the office. My ECD is based on the east coast. All three of the ACD/CD teams they hired in the past six months are east coast based. Our office is in the central time zone. Yet every job posting says “in person”. Seems like they just don’t want to advertise their hiring remote for the attractive accounts.

I've seen quite a few people make jokes about being "aged out" of advertising. Could someone please explain what that looks like and when that typically happens? Forgive the dumb question, I'm a newbie to the industry so I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't agencies want people with more experience?
