Be consistent, loyal to your team, and someone they can trust.
When I have a new project, I like to get the team involved from the beginning. I've noticed that when they are involved in the planning process and setting KPIs themselves, they are more involved in reaching the goals. I also try to explain the "why" behind everything we do. More people will give their all if they know the impact they're having.
This means that you need to be willing to take ideas from everyone, so many people ask for feedback but they don't really want it
Be trustworthy. Also, stop adding commercials.
Authenticity and support
I ask them what is important to them (and actually pay attention to it) since this varies based on the individual and gives such good insight.
I’ve found being transparent and pulling them into serious conversations and asking for input (obviously ones that are relevant) . “Hey, we are looking to add another team member and here is exactly why.”
Or “look, this is an area or process we feel like things are a little shaky with right now, do you have any input on that?”
And then the obvious answer, depending on the role or what it allows, make sure their comp plan/bonus/incentive lines up with a company goal
Be authentic and solicit their support. Show them the big picture and engage them from the start . Empower them and they will surprise themselves and you with the outcomes. Do not forget to celebrate small wins and the journey
You basically need to have them involved and you have to guide them and sometimes you get stuck with a plan which is maybe 85% effective, but it’s their plan and they will fight to make it successful
