How do you navigate the holidays, with or without kids? I tend to be pretty busy over the next 3-4 months and I always try to make as much time for family as I can, but it seems like it's never enough. My mother in law is pretty old fashioned and I can tell she thinks it's wrong that some nights I'm home late during the holiday season or when I work in downtimes during family holidays. My partner is incredibly supportive but I still feel some guilt over it.

How do you go about using PTO outside of an actual vacation? Because of the tight knit nature of the teams I’m on it feels like I can’t use an actual off day when I need it. (Corporate/M&A for reference)

Have to plan for childcare for when I have to return to work after my first child (we get 12 weeks). Did you hire a live in, someone come to house daily or did you bring to a daycare? How much did you pay and where do you live? Am trying to figure out how much good child care will run me.

Does anyone take day dates with their spouse/partner? By the time I get to bed, even on the weekends, I’m spent. I wonder if it would be more enjoyable to spend that time together during the day. We both work incredibly hard and are successful, but honestly I’m more the YOLO type and he probably would find it ridiculous to take this time off work. Has anyone found some enjoyment/benefit to spending time with your spouse like this?

Question about PTO - my contract says 25 days but is this inclusive of any office shutdown over Christmas/New years (if there is one?). In Sydney office if that provides some context. Thanks!

Anyone adopt a dog with a cat already at home? Our cat is a rescue so we’re unsure of his previous history / if he’s lived with dogs before. Wondering if there’s a process you’d suggest for how we go about finding a potential pup and seeing how they react and if shelters are open to working with us on this or if they’d just move to the next applicant who knows it’ll work. Unfortunately don’t have any friends/fam nearby with dogs to test him out with.

Hi Ladies, First time posting here. Do you have any advice on how you deal with anxiety in meetings? I find myself getting very nervous in meetings that I don’t have time to prepare for. I then tend to be very wordy instead of sharing my point or statement concisely.

Our company went through an exercise of redefining product roles - from business analyst, product owner, product manager to assoc pm, pm, senior pm etc. The concept is everyone with same skills - with different competency levels. My question is - what about interest? I am energized by execution, not so much strategy. Is product management for me, or should I be looking at other career paths? I’ve been assigned to PM something a director in another department originally proposed, but I am really struggling to work out how to deal with her territorialism and defensiveness. She is insisting on being in on every conversation I have with a stakeholder, gets angry if I answer a question asked directly of me, and shoots down literally everything I’ve suggested.
