I’d suggest focusing on your individual achievements and how they’ve positively impacted the team, despite the company’s overall performance. Highlight specific examples and metrics to show your value. You can also frame the conversation around your growth and future contributions to motivate the raise discussion!
Tie your conversation to dollars - you took the initiative to do “X”, which resulted in a cost savings of “Y”. I’ve found this to be the best way to push for raises.
There are a few different ways you could approach it. Of course, focusing on the value that you brought to the company and showing metrics to how you contributed will help show them it’s worth it to keep you on at a higher salary.
Alternatively, you could negotiate for other benefits rather than salary for example PTO, bonuses, or other perks, such as educational assistance or conferences.
