Don’t listen to ( Sales Manager 1 ). Sounds like a royal ***hole.
I’m currently an Account Executive at LinkedIn, and when I left Google, to join LinkedIn back in 2022, the role I was hired for didn’t have a sign-on bonus listed on the job requisition, and I was able to successfully negotiate a $30k sign-on bonus. (It’s normally paid to you on your first bi-weekly check)
You only negotiate a sign-on bonus with the recruiter after you receive confirmation that you’ve been selected for the role. Simply allow the recruiter to present the initial offer, try to get the initial offer sent to you via email and then you ask for 24 hours to consider the offer. The next day you contact the recruiter, and present them with your counter offer (higher salary, sign-on bonus, and RSU/equity if applicable).
If the initial compensation offer is less than $200k, but more than $100k annually, ask for a $15k sign-on bonus.
If it’s more than $200k, but less than $300k… ask for a $25k sign-on bonus.
If it’s more than $300k, but less than $400k… ask for a $35k sign-on bonus.
lol yeah not a nice reply. Also congrats on that bonus and appreciate the insight
If the job listing did not include a signing bonus, there is none. If it did, it would have stated the amount. Assume this is a non-negotiable point. Asking for an immediate bonus gives the (apparently correct) impression that you are more money-motivated than performance-motivated. If no employment contract had been signed yet, I would tell you the job offer has been withdrawn. If a contract had been signed, I would just tell you "No!" and watch you like a hawk eyeing a field mouse for the next six months.
everyone is more money motivated than performance motivated or they would work for free- you’ve been drinking the corporate kool aid- bet you also think the company is more concerned about employees welfare than the union , huh?
Ensure your initial salary ask is accurate and reasonable. I received a sign on bonus which allowed me to hit the number I asked for; no separate negotiation for it.

I must be in the wrong universe ! What kind of work do you do ?
keep in mind a sign on bonus is taxed at 40% that is standard for any bonus so if yiu are successful in the negotiation just so your nit surprised when you see tge take home pay for it.
There are a couple types, there’s a sign on bonus and/or a draw (uncovered is what you’re going for).
This means you’ll get paid your OTE commission on a monthly typically basis for 3-6 months as you ramp up.
The draw is helpful to offset a loss of earnings when you move from one company to the next
My man said $10k sign on bonus… who tf do these people think they are GOD? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The difference between you followers and me is simple. I don’t cling to the title of “professional” just to please companies that don’t give a damn about me. You know what? I’d probably still double your salary doing something completely different. So, am I supposed to be embarrassed because I misspelled a word? Nah. The real lack of professionalism and entitlement lies with the person above, demanding a $10k sign on bonus like they’re owed free money because of a little experience. Newsflash: this is a new America, not the one you think it is. Kick rocks with that request and be thankful you’re even getting a chance at the job. The entitlement will be erased VERY soon the way this country is going I ain’t worried. Hahah
