How does one get the courage to eat alone at a restaurant? Deathly afraid

It's like sex. Scary before you do it. Once you do it once you'll see how awesome it is. Just go sit at the bar and get some food

You really need to know that nobody is watching you.like not a soul. Use the phone as your crutch the first few times. If you need to then just keep thinking to yourself that your waiting for someone. And then slowly you'll be able to go alone without any other distraction

Go download a good book on my phone/tablet, spend some alone time with yourself and stop caring what other people think

How are you a senior consultant and your that afraid of people and judgment? Just do it, nobody cares and if they do its because they want to play later.

Take a book, magazine or newspaper. In reality, no one will pay any attention. If you are concerned about a stranger attempting to join you it's perfectly acceptable to let the host know you are dining alone and would prefer to keep it that way. They'll take care of you.

Weirdos in this thread. Do you need company in the bathroom too?

This is definitely the most idiotic thing I've heard this year

Sit at the bar. Much better there. If you need courage, start with a hotel restaurant

Someone mentioned using your phone as a crutch the first few times - i high recommend only the first few times and forcing yourself to put it away for the whole meal more often than not. Changes everything. And seriously, do we need to bend our necks down and stare at a screen any longer than we already do?

like

Say you're a party of 2 and order a drink, telling the waiter your other will be joining soon. Nurse your drink while making a show of looking at the door. Keep checking your phone and make a couple of calls to your own voicemail asking where they are. Eventually, have an imaginary conversation where you finish the call by exclaiming "I can't believe you're standing me up again!" Then sadly order your meal while trying your best not to cry. 67% of the time you will get a free desert. Science.

Will strangers know not to bother you or will I have to anticipate that possibility?

I did it for the first time last week, sat at the bar and ordered food, wasn't so horrible. Wished the guy next to me didn't feel the need to try and talk to me the entire time, but what're ya gonna do🤷🏽‍♀️

I love it, doing it right now in fact. So relaxing

It often leads to the sexytime. If you do it properly, they also agree.

Smartphone. Noise cancelling headphones. Kindle.

Eat alone at a restaurant

Doing it right now

Nothing wrong with eating alone. I think the worst thing I had to do going alone is to a concert. That is something I'd rather do with company.

My dad is turning 60 in January, and it popped into my head that I could get him a bottle of champagne from the year he was born (1963). But my research shows that Moët & Chandon's Dom Pérignon wasn't produced in 1963.

Can any wine or champagne enthusiasts recommend a good 1963 vintage, or was that an off year for champagnes? And if that's the case, have any other recommendable 1963 vintage wines?

Should I specialize in Blockchain or AI? I’m a freshman in a CS degree and I can’t decide. Regarding AI, I find this field fascinating but I feel like it requires a lot of experience, degrees and diplomas.
