I let them know well in advance, so there is no excuse for them to not give me my paid time off. I earned it, I should get to use it. Sometimes they try to give me some pushback and complain about being understaffed, but I respectfully let them know that that’s not really my problem. You know, I say it respectfully though.

Sometimes manager wants to pushback the PTO as well condisdering the amoun of work you have
Couldn't be easier. I fill out a PTO request form, send it to my manager, and usually have it approved within a day or two. If I'm sick, I send the sick day form instead and go back to sleep.

Ew. I’m glad ours is electronic through workday.
This is a huge red flag!! 🚩 it should not be hard, everyone has a life outside work
Do you not just put it through an hr system/send an email?
Pro
My workplace is very supportive and encourages it. Thankfully I just need to submit PTO and put it on my calendar with my manager. As long as I find coverage, it’s easy to take PTO.
Rising Star
Same! Our managers encourage us to take all our PTO. They’re as burnt out as we are
Rising Star
We just request it and the system will either auto decline/accept or you’ll be put on a waitlist.
