Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

Left EY with 10YOE and $182K base ($186K TC). Now at 15YOE with $522K TC.
Yup we do, and yes we are. Look into Google Cloud Consulting (GCC).
13 total YOE $180K total comp. Feel great. Not that I don't want to make more money - it's just not a top 3 priority in my life.
I’d love to know your other priorities!

9+ YOE at 220k, feeling fine
8 YOE and 260k+. 220k base.
Once you're past 250k I feel it starts getting much more challenging to get jobs. Everything needs to be Director+ in industry UNLESS you switch into an RSU heavy tech/tech-adjacent role where sometimes even as a manager you can make more.
I also feel since consulting has different title structures, even if the pay matches up, it gets difficult to communicate (unless the job is in your network) the seniority/visibility of the work you're doing. Simple minded recruiters may screen you. For example, I basically only work at director/VP/C level client stakeholders, but it is not reflected by title. I try and include that in my role descriptions.
Yes, I'm SM level.
8 YOE with MBA, $250K base and ~$100K bonus.
Big 4 SM and have no intentions to leave.
SO left B4 for big tech, of course is making more than me, but the stress, WLB and fear of getting laid off is unbearable.
