Honestly, starting with a clear goal is one of the most important things you can do. Do you want to raise awareness of important issues, or are you looking to create a more inclusive workplace? Those clear goals will help you put a plan in place. :)
It's tough because the company is generally not open to talking about social issues. It's more about creating a strong community for our marginalized employees.
Some of my coworkers have admitted that ERGs are the only ways that they can freely share identities and DEI interests. I would survey workers and ask what they would like to get out of ERGs, then evolve from there.
