How important is it to say no during a job search? I’ve noticed that when you say yes to everything, every low range, vague role, or misaligned opportunity, you lose leverage fast and the process gets exhausting. People who are clear about saying no seem more confident and end up with roles that fit them better. Do you see saying no as an essential skill in job hunting, especially for protecting boundaries, and long term career outcomes?

Generally important. I would say job searching is probably the one time where you shouldn't necessarily make a point to. Yes, that might mean you end up taking an opportunity that doesn't align with your goals, but if you're unemployed, that's still the right play.

Yeah, that’s a really fair point. When you need a job, sometimes saying yes is just the realistic choice, even if it’s not ideal.

It's obviously important to know when to say no, but you're also going to be considering your situation at the time. If you're unemployed and money is tight, a job that's less than optimal can be attractive enough to warrant an affirmative answer. It's great to be choosy and confident, but in this job market that may not be a realistic option.

I agree. Context does matter a lot here, and sometimes survival mode has to come before being selective unfortunately...

Absolutely. Especially early in careers.

Make sure you're getting what you want.

Hi 👋🏻 Would love some support here - looking to build out a bonus structure for a Sales Engagement Mgr role - it isn't a typical sales role - this person will be closing deals but not necessarily securing leads. If they will be scoring leads, it will be organic via conferences, partnerships. Of course, we want to encourage and incentivize this person. Potentially giving then an extra 20-50k bonus potential. How do I build this out? Any suggestions or examples would be super helpful. Thank you!!

LinkedIn is a garbage app where I can’t even post my opinion or experience because it will go against the mainstream ideologies. If I even “like” a post then I worry that my peers and managers see what I like and suddenly I need inclusivity training. What a load of shit! You can’t be who you truly are on that app. Which is why I like fishbowl so much, the anonymity is a game changer. If LinkedIn was a anonymous, we’d see a lot more support for Kanye and a lot less LGBQT material. Bet!

Facebook Ads after iOS 14 changes.

I'll share my experience and urge you to share yours:

Since iOS 14 changes, Facebook ads isn't the same anymore. Why?

A. >75% iOS users denied tracking. They are no longer tracked across websites/apps. Facebook lost its edge.
B. Targeting and conversion tracking aren't as effective anymore.
C. Many advertisers have been migrating their budgets from Facebook to Apple and Amazon ads.

What's your experience? Let's all learn.

What would be the best method to transition from a financial advisory role to a more financial analyst focused position? Is this type of move unheard of/too difficult to do?

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].
