The people in New York are better than the rest of the country so they got that going for them.

Work hard, play hard. Not a particularly family-friendly office. Other offices invite spouses/SO's/families to attend work events and parties - not so in NY. (Would be difficult because so many people already). They used to host Thanksgiving dinner at the Marriott Marquis for anyone interested (including family) but they stopped that a few years ago. Professionals skew to the younger side - many people leave by the time they are married or have kids. Most social events involve a lot of alcohol. Partners are very focused on clients and though they are technically experts, lack a number of soft/social skills. Until you find a way to connect with others in the group it's easy to feel alone even with so many others around.
All in all - it's a great place to start your career. Huge important clients, interesting projects, the best talent. But don't stay too long. Up or out.
Depends on the team. But I like diversity, how people from different cultures are working together. Personally, would like to seemore people from Latin America, they are really easy going and fun to work with.
And ofcourse you can find BAD apples everywhere. And I met few in NY office...
Backstabbing
