Corporation vs partnership
For the B4 it’s because they’re also audit firms and if the firm in Argentina goes down for the Enron of South America the US firm doesn’t want to have the discussion that they’re not really different entities and then have all the US partners lose their pensions.
Having employees in the same country beyond a certain amount can complicate that. One overly loose audit partner in a country can screw over everyone. No need to make that risk global.
It’s because Airbnb are idiots who don’t realize the tax implications of having employees work wherever they want. The tax exposure is enormous and much higher for larger firms. Even working in different states has a huge tax risk.

Maybe cause they don’t do timesheets there’s less of a paper trail?
Each Big 4 firm operates in each country as a separate legal entity, so they are not large global firms, they are a network of cooperating firms. EY Argentina operates in Argentina, EY Canada operates in Canada, etc. AirBnB is already set up to have business licenses, offices, employees and tax reporting for various countries.

Does anyone know the 170 countries AirBnB is now letting their employees work in?
