Never been an issue for me. Generally more travel because fewer clients here, but not too hard to get to most places. Coming back to Denver every week is amazing
I’ve never had problems unless we have a major weather event. It happens less often than most people think. The elevation change isn’t an issue but I’ve lived here for quite a while.
It’s usually better than most cities, when there is bad weather, because they have the equipment to get planes out
Airport is a ways out but travel time isn’t much different compared to other major cities/airports.
If you want to optimize for travel Stapleton, Parkhill, and Rino neighborhoods are all nice with easy access to I-70 to airport.
Elevation isn’t an issue really. Exercise is much easier when traveling to sealevel
Not Stapleton. Rino would be good. Even downtown. There is a train to the airport from downtown once you feel comfortable taking public transportation.
If you’re looking for a younger crowd with more of a scene that is also walkable then RINO would be the best choice. I’m completely biased and have lived in the area for 5 years and love it.
LoHi, highlands are also great spots for young people but are a bit further from the airport and slightly more expensive.
Never been an issue for me and I was flying to LA every week
Just be aware that the airport is way TF out there. As in, if you live in the western suburbs and have to get there during rush hour, it’s easily an hour or more. In fairness there is now train service so that is an option.
If you’re coming from a city where the airport is in or near the city center, be prepared for a change.
I guess I'm the only one who feels this way, but I personally thought the travel was more difficult than when I lived in Chicago. Getting to the airport was about the same, maybe easier since it's a smaller airport. But I moved here for the mountains so I wanted to be there almost every weekend. That meant almost no time in my own bed. Keep in mind a lot of people here don't stay in the city on weekends, they go on climbing trips, ski trips, camping trips.
I was also staffed on east coast projects and the time difference killed me every week unless I committed to staying on eastern time or took sleeping pills to fall asleep at a normal time.
And I noticed the altitude change a lot. Working out was easier on site, but then I'd come back and try to do a more challenging hike at 11,000 ft and I'd feel completely out of shape. Plus I couldn't hold my alcohol in Denver. 😂
Having said all this, it's totally manageable and I've got no regrets! I've noticed that people who have lived here for a long time have no issues with altitude change, so if you're able to get a solid 6 months here, you'll probably be more permanently adjusted. Before covid, I was never able to stay for more than a month.
