There is no WLB in any public accounting for partnership tax. This is what I think correct me if I’m wrong

fully agreed--it is complex and there is never an offseason

2 years is extreme long term thinking right now
in Big 4 and large regionals.

2 week focus on ST utilization with no analyses of vacation or whether someone is way over goal already. Just analytic admins doing what market leader wants with no concept of what a tax practice is. They must have smooth level consistent metrics throughout the year- when the reality is our business is a roller coaster.

If you want safety and consistency buy a Treasury bond. Otherwise, grow up, grow a pair, and try to actually lead instead of just bayonet the wounded.

Oh, and it would really help a lot, Mr $750k Market Leader who cannot handle any client meetings, if you could actually sell work to grow the practice….

I’m not in NYc or partnership tax but am a SM/D in the corporate tax practice. Utilization target for SM/D is 65%. Your rating and comp will be impacted if you do not meet your metrics. There have been several rounds of layoffs in recent years and I’ve seen all levels be impacted. Most often utilization was the metric used to make the cut.

Can't say I recommend GT right now but then again the whole industry isn't looking great as a whole. At GT we've lost our culture and all decisions seem very short sighted. If you're looking for a place to grow your career I'd pick a place that's thinking beyond the next two years.

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. Now HR is restarting my ET as a new employee. I realize I left, but not on bad terms and I am an exemplar and respected employee. I thought I’d have the upper hand with the nursing shortage but I’m getting the “rules are rules” response. Help!?!

I would love to work in financial industries, but I dont know if having a Big 4 name would open more doors in future, or if $25k is too much to pass up on. Any input is appreciated :)

Given all the recent buzz about expected large raises around the big 4, I’d like to level set on the average salary for a 4th/5th year female senior manager in federal tax ( credits & methods group) in the Midwest - Chicago/Minneapolis/Detroit market.
