@OP - it’s unfortunately bred out of the tech assholes who came from their parents’ basements since it used to be a male-dominated area. That said, similar to every other aspect of humanity, smart women are taking over. Don’t trouble yourself with the fact that they’re afraid of you, just focus on making good shit and if it gets to be too much find a new shop.
Technology is king....it’s very serious and ladies, you don’t get it. It’s science and you’re all about the feelings. Not aggressive innovation. Or the attitude is “let us handle the tech innovation. You handle the execution and little details, okay hon?"
And definitely not at r/ga. I was miserable there myself once...

OP, I am saying advertising in and of itself is populated by people (men AND women) primarily driven by ego and money. We are typically serving corporations as well, which is all about that bottom line. Those things you mention (feelings etc) are not priorities in this business. I tried affecting a bro-tech culture with some of what you're talking about and most people weren't interested. Some were, but they were the exception and not the rule. It's an unfortunate truth.

You’re competing with men in the workplace now. They’re not going to change who they naturally are - to fit your disposition. You need to find a way to beat them. Good luck. And may the best “person” win.
Men have always competed with men in the workplace. And in other contexts, but let’s stick to the workplace. Men don’t ‘naturally’ make use of feelings and vulnerability when they engage in competition. That’s not a good strategy, to win a competition. It’s the very opposite. Now they’re also competing with women, and i don’t see them likely to change their strategy. Why should they, after all? It’s still competition. Their goal is still to win, regardless of the nature (or gender) of their competitors. Lions -those arrogant assholes- don’t purr at each other to take over on some territory, a pride, a gazelle, or a lioness. The lioness can totally challenge the lion, but she’d better use those claws. Or some other smart strategy, if she can find an effective one. But that’s not going to be vulnerability. The ‘asshole’ will feast on that vulnerability.

That’s really sad to hear since R/GA has a great reputation. I would have hoped they would be better but that attitude is pretty engrained in a lot of the tech industry.
