Well, I was the one who broke it off. I couldn’t get him to love me the way I needed or even respect me enough. It’s been 6 weeks of not seeing each other. We messaged this week. He doesn’t get it…. His messages show he still doesn’t know what he wants. Yet, if I am totally honest, I hate how part of me wishes he would do a grand gesture/finally decide to be a better man. It’s delusional. Privilege is deemed acceptable each time there is no accountability for choices and decisions made, especially when said choices and decisions cause scarring and trauma in the lives of others.

The concept of PAR can be applied to racial equity and inclusion work as:
Privilege
Accountability
Responsibility

Privilege is reinforced over time - it does not happen suddenly!

Accountability correlates with Responsibility in this way: When a person accepts personal responsibility for how his/her actions and decisions impact and influence the lives of others, said person holds him-/herself accountable and accepts being accountable to others for the equity and inclusion (or lack thereof) in their spheres of influence.
