Two kids under the age of 8 and I find that I struggle to spend enough quality time with them between their school and activities and my unpredictable job. What do you folks do to be better parents?

Put the phone down when you are with them. They know when you are using it, and it sends the message that whatever stupid client email you are working on is more important than them. I put mine on silent when I get in the house at night, leave it on a table in the other room, and don’t touch it until everyone is asleep. We are accountants, not brain surgeons. Nothing is really that important.

Same boat. Right now I’m making my Sundays completely work-free so I can be fully present and in the moment with them.

I struggle constantly with this, kids are 3 and a 2 month old.

like

Leave the office at 6:00 and invest quality time with them every night you can. Once they are in bed, spend time with your spouse too, get some exercise and then log back on and do what you gotta do. Start pushing back on stuff at work that is a waste of time and don’t attend useless meetings or calls if you’re busy. There is no “balance” - you just make time for them and give up something else (sleep, TV, time with friends, etc)

like

Same boat, three kids 4 and under. Never enough time. I try and do all I can to be home with them off busy season, and make a point to take just them to breakfast at least every month, as well as have a date with each of them for a little one on one time each month. Sometimes the date is as simple as going to the store together, but I only take one of them.

Focus on the quality of the time spent with your children. If you are with them BE with them and nowhere else

Setting healthy boundaries with family is HARD. Specifically a family that suppresses emotions, gets defensive, won’t talk out conflict, tons of gaslighting.

It’s so hard to stay connected when I’m so misunderstood and disrespected constantly. It’s never huge, but a constant 3-4 out of 10 no matter the day. We never talk about anything.

I’m just so exhausted trying to make it work with them. I don’t have many friends (hey pandemic) and it’s so, so lonely.

Just 5 weeks left of school before summer. Is anyone else having trouble keeping their students engaged?

Hello kindergarten teachers I have a question for those in the New York area. I have a son going into kindergarten in a few days. My question is what knowledge is he expected to walk in knowing?

28,F divorced no child and no life , my marriage is nothing but a whole cheat drama, now parents are asking to marry anyone who can 'accept ' me but I never did anything wrong other than being innocent and naive and good to bad people, really wanted to live my life, somebody hold my hand when in distress and i ended up somebody who just need my money and body nothing else, just feel like committing suicide, never been a loser at any point of life , Life is bloody damn unfair

However, I’ve seen her response and mannerisms change (positively) in the presence of parents and siblings which leads me to believe that she is cognizant enough to possible use a communication device. However, I don’t even know where to start with researching the best one for her. Any suggestions?

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.
