Put the phone down when you are with them. They know when you are using it, and it sends the message that whatever stupid client email you are working on is more important than them. I put mine on silent when I get in the house at night, leave it on a table in the other room, and don’t touch it until everyone is asleep. We are accountants, not brain surgeons. Nothing is really that important.
Same boat. Right now I’m making my Sundays completely work-free so I can be fully present and in the moment with them.
I struggle constantly with this, kids are 3 and a 2 month old.
Leave the office at 6:00 and invest quality time with them every night you can. Once they are in bed, spend time with your spouse too, get some exercise and then log back on and do what you gotta do. I try and do all I can to be home with them off busy season, and make a point to take just them to breakfast at least every month, as well as have a date with each of them for a little one on one time each month. Sometimes the date is as simple as going to the store together, but I only take one of them.
Focus on the quality of the time spent with your children. If you are with them BE with them and nowhere else
