l am currently a rising junior in
college interning this summer at
Amazon as a Business Analyst. I
would really like to break into
product management and believe in
my 5 weeks so far I have shown skills
to back that up. Would it be
acceptable to ask my manager to
recommend me for a product

AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon
Meta technical solutions consultant interview prep - can someone let me know if they have gone through the technical rounds for Technical Solutions Consultant role? Can you share what to prepare for since it’s not a data science type of role so most likely not hard level MySQL questions. Any specific types of queries that I should learn? Thanks!

36 years old, $439k. I started contributing around 12 years ago, but there have been some periods of unemployment during that time. I was a financial advisor in my prior life, so I feel relatively good where I’m at, but know that I need to really start turning up my contributions.
Been contributing 27.5 years to my 401k.
I had a rollover over from another job prior of $5k. I now have $1.75 M.
Until Jan 2024 I had a 8% company match that I got for 16 years. That has been replaced with 0% match. Now I get 5% in a pseudo Bond-like "pension" held by IBM at t-bond interest rates. And before that we had a cash balance "pension" for the first 10 years I worked here. Together they are another $100k.
How do I feel? Well I had a defined pension plan that guaranteed me 1/3rd of my salary for life. They stole that early in my career and gave me these t-bag pensions at t-bond rates, sometimes credited at less than 1%. They promised 8% returns but lol.
We are cash poor because I have sacrificed everything to contribute to my 401k because I wanted a great retirement full of travel. Even with nearly 1.9M I won't generate enough income to replace what the execs pocketed. It was a very well funded pension too...
I expect to be laid off in a few months and apparently I can't get another job that pays as well without moving. At 60, I will not uproot my family. I got an offer paying 40% less than I make but with two kids still in college and $200k mortgage left on my house, I don't really feel ready. Would be nice to get 5 more years but that may not happen now.
Yeah I know, poor little me with $1.75M. But I sacrificed everything for nearly 30 years and I will be lucky to get $80k per year income and I expect under Trump/Musk to see full retirement pushed to at least 70.
God I hate this forking company...
Luigi.
On a more serious note, I am so sorry to hear you’ve been stiffed. I hope you get whatever you deserve, my friend

34 years old at $440k (split between 401k/IRA/Roth) additional $150k in brokerage (because why not). Been investing for about 9 years now. Mostly doing 10% into Roth + 5% company match that goes to 401k only.
Happy with returns and keeping the money in the market. Retirement is in ~30 years. Short term market swings are irrelevant given long term time horizon.
40 and just a bit over 600k split in IRAs and 401k. But I put more into RE and have 3 properties generating rent and are mostly paid off.
I withdrew my 401k when I got divorced, I had a 1yr old and was 5 months pregnant with our second and he refused to help in anyway. So I withdrew it to pay debts and take care of myself and the kids for 7 months until I was able to get another job. I am now rebuilding my 401k and have a long ways to go. 41, only $200k 😭😭
28 at 150k roughly. I feel incredibly behind. Only have about 75k in assets outside of the 401k too.
I’m at 75K and I’m 28. Capital one contributes 7.5% if contribute 6%. But I just started last month. Prior to this my company did 100% match for first 4.

I'm turning 40 this year. I have 350k in my 401k. Due to my income now I max it out every year. I wish I started maxing out earlier but it wasn't in the cards. My wife also has 300 something in her 401k.
I'm feel good about it.
That's a catch-22 for me. I have tens of thousands of dollars holed up with the state system because I used to do public work. Would have to double check my current one that I opened when I got my current job almost 2ish years ago
I always did 15% of my check. I've been working for 18+years. $700k, I borrowed 70k during the real estate market depression and purchased a home for 50k. I did have to pay taxes on that. But!! That house is now worth $400k.
Anyone here is always one bad decision away from loosing everything. 😂 Be wise and pick the right woman 😜
I'm 45. I've only been contributing to my 401k for about 12 years, but have a balance of about $900k now with a Net Worth of $1.5m.
