I've been looking for almost a year, don't give up hope. Sometimes it takes a long time, sometimes it happens right away.
In MI, we're just reaching hiring season. Admin is just coming back from their summer break, and teachers are just starting to turn in resignations.
Yeah, we did some hiring in June, but only for a few positions that we knew would need filling because of resignations or retirements that were announced earlier than usual. Now is "usual."
I'd never tell anybody not to start looking for a teaching job in April. But I'd tell EVERYBODY not to get discouraged if you're still looking in the first weeks of August. And keep on looking even if you haven't landed something by September--there's always last-minute movement, even after the first day.
If you are willing to relocate, southwestern Kansas is hiring!

If you aren’t getting called to interview, it is your resume. Find teachers who have been recently interviewed/hired, and ask to see their resumes or if they would be willing to look over yours. If that isn’t an option, look for resume tips online but look at those that come from folks in education, not business or some other field.
Nevada needs you!!!
I have a similar experience. I've been looking for social studies or history position for 2 years now in CA. I also wonder if I live in a wrong place.
I thought California was laying teachers off. 🧐
New Jersey is desperate for teachers. See if you can get reciprocal certification
