I have no student loans. My wife has 21k. I have the money sitting in index funds so that when Biden leaves office we'll pay them off. If he pushes theough student loan forgiveness, i wont pay more taxes and be holding my **** in my hand.
Very smart way to go about this.
I paid mine off 2 months ago!!!!
I was in debt for 8 long years and had six figures. I’m free now though 💪
At graduation, I told myself I wouldn’t pay them off. I’ll just pay minimum for the 20+ years. But then my brother inspired me. So F it. I drained my savings over 3 years and yeah. Here we are, feeling like I made the right decision 😊
I really think I can have them all paid off by the end of 2024. I'm simultaneously working on paying off my car note and my student loans. I want to be debt free by 2025.
That's awesome - congrats!!
I'll be dead before mine are paid back..
That’s my problem plan.
I haven't made a payment yet, so I think it will take me about 5 years at this point. If I pay $500/month every month. I don't even want to think about it though.
5 years is not too bad at all!
I’m shooting for the end of 2024 - just $5K left. I could probably do it it faster but I’m tired of hustling so hard.
That's amazing! $5k left must be a great feeling. How much did you start with?
I worked and paid off the tuition while I studied so no student loans to speak off. Thank God for that!
Wow! How much money were you making to be able to pay them off while also affording rent/groceries/etc?
One year, approximately. $60k left. I’m going to be 39 and will have been paying for over 17 years.
All of the above. Yes!
Mine were forgiven in August. Between undergrad and law school, I spent 31 years in repayment. I had a little under $22k left, which would have taken 5 years to repay. I also did not get the benefit of the payment pause due to having older [commercial ffelp] loans until July. I don't get any of that money back.
IDR has me on there until 2037
