I think working remotely can be just as efficient as working in an office. But it does depend on the person. When I first worked remotely I would find it difficult to concentrate, it seemed that everything was distracting. But over time, really a few months, that shifted. I began to get more disciplined and I shut out distractions and I actually think I became more productive while working from home.
My previous employment was WFH as an Order Entry Technician. I'd rather work from home. First, I don't have to spend money on lunch. I save in gas, wear and tear on car. I feel I'm more productive. I didn't mind working OT, or volunteering to cover another shift, and I didn't have to buy clothes for the job, and the bonus, no workplace drama and gossip.
