No way am i sacrificing my weekends to get ahead because a corporation is being greedy with its profits that my free weekend work is contributing to. Let the work suffer. Make your company take the hit and have to explain to clients why there aren’t enough staff available to meet their deadlines.
If we keep doing free work for jobs that ultimately end up laying us off anyway, they’ll never be forced to change. Stop sacrificing your life and family time for these ghouls.

Yes, but just to get my work done and get set up for Mondays. No getting ahead - as in work or a promotion.

Exactly! I’m on the client side. They don’t have a real process. So I worked a few hours on Sunday to build out at least a small templated process. 2 hours max.
Oh god no unless it was extreme circumstances. If I can’t get my work done during work hours then there is a staffing issue for the agency to solve.
When I worked on Pharma accounts, weekend work happened several times per year and 10 hour days were not unusual. Did it help me get ahead? No it did not, but I was able to keep the job for nearly 7 years which is an eternity in agency world.
