If you're talking about maternity leave, I would imagine that the response very much depends on the needs of each individual. Some people have easy pregnancies and are able to work until they go into labor. Others are forced to go on disability/FMLA earlier due to pregnancy complications.
There's a pregnant women in law bowl and a women law bowl that could be great resources for you at this stage. Maybe consider asking there?
I’m 30 weeks due March 8 - asked my HR about this recently and they said my OB can approve 4 weeks off before my due date under the FMLA, but that it’s subject to insurance approval (whatever that means). Seems like there needs to be some sort of justification beyond pregnancy, though my (admittedly brief) Googling suggests it isn’t a high bar. I understand this leave is fully paid (at my firm) and doesn’t come out of post-birth leave allowances.
I’ve been billing 200+ the last few months so definitely hoping for early leave to force a slow down!! No one otherwise has any inclination to lessen the pressure, but not surprising for big law I guess.
