But actually, if at this point you’re not setup for R1 submissions, don’t stress about missing it and applying R2. Plenty of consultants have favorable results in R2; it shouldn’t be the difference between applying next year vs. this year. IMO, R1 applicants only have a slight edge in some scenarios. If by the time R2 comes around and they’ve already accepted an R1 applicant with the same scores, GPA, background, similar extracurriculars, recommenders’ remarks etc., then that theoretical R2 applicant is likely SOL.

I am an office coordinator at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and want to break into the field of research. MSK has research coordinator roles, however when I initially applied after graduating, I didn’t get any interviews. I have minimal experience with research from undergrad. B4 Accountant posted they are interviewing for Goldman Sachs.. someone asks if they are POC. This is exactly why I, as a Black man will always feel like my success and hard work will always be attributed to my color and not merit. We just can’t win. 😔 Before you comment, please understand that this a real issue a lot of us face now. Tbh it’s become an insecurity of mine. We are just as good and just as worthy and we don’t get where we are because of the color of our skin!

Might be off topic, but guys please, take care of your health. I've been rejected by all companies in the last 2 months. I had my Walmart interview today and it went really well. And guess what? I got a rejection email. I felt dizziness while working and fell down today. I had to go to the doctor due to the anxiety and stress I was carrying since the last 2 months. It has affected my health. It's important to push yourself to achieve your goals, but don't forget to "Live" in the process.
