If the emphasis is on a “nice” area, I would say about £100k to live alone but that depends on how much you want to be saving regularly.
200-400k probably
Depends on your definition of “nice” and stage of life (eg do your have kids). There are pockets of places in London that are central and have good flats and developments available, though they might be in a traditionally not as nice post code (eg tower hamlets). There’s good value for money / per square foot if you r buying property… in the wapping and Limehouse area for example - nearer to the Thames, that is so near the city. You won’t get the “nice” coffee shops, restaurants and eateries of north London or posh green spaces. But you’re so near everything anyway if you cycle etc.
Depends what you r looking for / optimising for. Space in the flat? Garden? A house? Easy commute? Do you have dependents etc
But I would say if you’re patient and get lucky on finding someone desperate to sell you don’t need 200-400K for an nice flat in central-ish area.
