Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

It's a perk, not a deal breaker. 5 years ago I would have answered very differently. Nowadays, remote is a rarity, hybrid is a luxury, at least some amount of in-office time the standard. If two offers are similar, I'm obviously prioritizing the one that provides the most flexibility, but I'm not withdrawing my name from consideration just because remote isn't a possibility.

That’s fair, I don’t think no remote is a deal breaker for me but no hybrid will probably stop me from pursuing a job.
I used to love working from home, but eventually my ADHD got worse and my productivity tanked. Now it's hard for me to focus at home at all and I prefer being in the office. Plus, when I work from home, it's hard for me to stop working because it feels like it never ends, whereas when I was in the office, I could just leave the work, literally and mentally.
Coach
Yeah I get this, I think when working from home it’s good to have a firm boundaries otherwise it’s easy for everything to be confused.

As I get closer to spending through my severance package I become more willing to make the 40 minute drive to downtown 7 days a week to get bills paid.
Coach
Yeah that’s fair, I can see how your circumstances change it.
Big thing for me is that I make enough to live close to the office with easy public transport commute. So if in the new year they say everyone back to the office, then its not a big deal. If I lived far outside of the city that would start the job search for something closer. Like pretty much everything else, high levels of compensation are the key differentiator
Coach
Yeah I live a little further from work now so the prospect of coming back in more is expensive.
I specialize as a professional artist with strong experience in graphical art, life sketching, and painting, combining technical precision with expressive creativity. My work in the graphical aspect focuses on composition, form, proportion, shading, and visual balance, allowing each piece to communicate clearly and aesthetically. I pay close attention to line quality, contrast, and spatial relationships, which strengthens both conceptual and realistic artworks.
In life sketching, I am skilled in capturing human figures, gestures, and expressions from observation. This practice enhances my understanding of anatomy, movement, and perspective, enabling me to translate real-life moments into dynamic visual narratives. I work confidently with quick gesture sketches as well as detailed studies, ensuring accuracy while maintaining artistic flow.
My painting practice explores texture, color harmony, light, and emotional depth. I work with various techniques and styles, adapting to themes that range from realism to expressive and conceptual art. Each painting reflects thoughtful layering, controlled brushwork, and a strong sense of mood, aiming to connect the viewer with the subject,Overall, my artistic experience reflects dedication to craftsmanship, originality, and visual storytelling, with artworks created and produced entirely by me, suitable for exhibitions, collaborations, and creative projects
No choice, medical field but because im a disabled minority WFH would be a rare luxury, no one would see what I look like and so I wouldn't be so traumatized by the bullying.
Coach
Well that seems like it would be better for all parties!
It is very high on the list of priorities
Coach
I think it is for me too.
It’s important but I’m realizing it may not be the most common anymore
Coach
We are seeing it less and less which is disappointing, I think it’s more common in smaller places.
