The question is: how does his behavior negatively affect day to day business and productivity. Does it interfere with you getting the work done? Maybe you can have a conversation with him and confront him. Tell him that you noticed his behavior and ask him why he is behaving this way. (I did that once and found out things that had nothing to do with me at all).
Tell him openly how his behavior affects you directly and how the company is affected. Tell him that in order to keep up a professional work environment he needs to stop this behavior.
Then inform your manager that you had this conversation with him and that you hope you have his support should the behavior not change.
It could have nothing to do with you being a woman and all about him being childish. Sounds like others in the company know about his behavior as well and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was one of the reasons he wouldn’t be selected for the job.
Rise above it and don't entertain getting involved in the drama.
