You don’t and accept that you were wrong
You’re only saying that because you are the single voice that isn’t aligned.
Accept your were wrong and move on
Evaluations come down to how you weight different criteria. If you are weighting certain criteria more heavily than your team, that's not necessarily bias - that's subhectice.judgment.
Bias is really only occurring if you have chosen bad criteria (e.g. Skin color) or if you made your conclusion first and then backfilled your criteria to support your winner.
Just because your judgment is singular doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong. You should try to understand why nobody else agrees with you, but without additional context it's hard to weigh further.
You're paying your friend 15k less and they have 2x more years of experience over the others? That's how you get your agency to hire your friend lol
What if there is no clear winner candidate
Unfortunately there is and you were wrong. If you are the only one who thinks your candidate is the best then you are being biased. If things were even then you would have a case but sounds like you are in the minority.
Well no, I said others disagree that she is most qualified. Everyone agrees that there is no clear winner and that multiple candidates seem promising
What are the criteria? Surely you can have an objective comparison based on experience, interview answers, etc.
You can’t, based on the fact you referred them. Particularly if you have a $ interest in the referral ($) etc. Takes a team to vet and others may have different views. Qualifications are not always just written on the resume. That said, stand up for what you believe and advocate, just do so as a member of the team.
What everyone else said. Though if you’ve had long term experience working with someone vs a set of candidates that are known through “interview only”, perhaps you can speak to that aspect. Lots of people can perform in an interview, but having a view on actual work habit and product would be valuable.
If you referred someone, why are you part of the hiring committee? To make it truly unbiased, you shouldn’t have been part of the process at all
