I'd start by highlighting my accomplishments and the additional responsibilities I've taken on since the last review. Then, I'd gently bring up the fact that I've learned that someone with a similar title is earning more. I wouldn't make it confrontational but rather express curiosity about the factors influencing the difference in compensation. I'd tie it back to my performance and contributions, aiming to frame the conversation around fairness and the value I bring to the team.
Make sure that you list out the responsibilities that you have that the other person doesn’t have (without explicitly bringing up others). Make sure to position it as a value add.
Compile achievements that showcase your value. Projects led, revenue generated, cost savings process improvements. Don't just talk about tasks, paint a picture of the impact you've made.
I would guess management and HR is already aware of that. I would ask them to have your job reevaluated to what the market rate is because you feel like there is a pay gap then give them a list of everything you do.
I’d take a look at there work experience as well compared to you. They could be making more because of their negotiation skills or naturally because they were making more before joining. A they make more than me alone is a hard sell
They were trained by me and have 2 years less experience with the company. But I left for a year and came back so in that time they were promoted. In other cases, this would be valid. Unfortunately not in this one
Most of the time that $$ was decided during the interview cycle so it really has to do with the persons “selling” and “negotiating” ability. So like it has nothing to do with what you do or what they do.
