It’s fine if you have a good resume and can sell yourself . I landed a jump recently easily and am getting out of public. But if you don’t have both and don’t live in a target area you may struggle. It’s only going to get tougher.
Agree with Crowe 1 on good resume and selling yourself. I was laid off from big 4 recently and had a job offer within 1 month. I had a lot of luck with LinkedIn recruiter opportunities and was how I landed my new role, so worth giving them a try in my opinion.
What was your role at big4 and how many YOE? CPA?
Job market is extremely tough. Many firms aren’t hiring new staff until 2026. If you have many years of experience, you will have an easier time.
Gotcha gotcha. I just need to work on my interviewing skills at this point since I’m able to get interviews but can’t get another even after 2nd or 3rd round interviews.
I agree with Tax associate 1, its extremely challenging right now. I have several friends who have been looking for new roles for over 6 months with great resumes and lots of experience and are barely getting any calls. It seems like its only getting worse.
Ah damn… took me 6 months to land a role at SS&C after I was laid off from Deloitte but this place is extremely toxic and I want to get out.
