Amazing
15-25
Never worked a weekend, never worked past 10pm and have most Fridays basically off
Story of my life, can’t complain
Work life balance in any job comes down to you and the expectations you set with your supervisor. Consulting has its peaks and valleys all the time. I would say that this tends to get a little tougher as you become more senior because sometimes it's tough to balance delegation vs time/quality with the team structure you have. What I've learned through my career, is that you need to establish/recognize your lieutenants (people you trust to delegate to) very early on. If projects are poorly estimated staffing-wise, we need to be comfortable to raise this up to leadership very fast and and propose some possible options to fix the issue withour leadership's support. Unfortunately, this is where most people fail and take on the burden of extra workload and either burn out themselves and/or their team. Remember that you can't be responsible for some else's crappy estimates.
Haven’t worked over 50 hours but maybe one time in the last year.
I’d say 30% of the time I’m not even working 40 hours per week
Wow, and are you considered full time?
Full time and work maybe 20 hours a week. Fridays are essentially off. But it does vary by project. Current one has been awesome thankfully.
Highly dependent on project. Have had some 50-55+, right now I’m probably doing real work for 25-30 hours but billing 40 since the project is going well. East coast client so I’m done by noon-2pm on Fridays
Follow up question. Most responses so far are working less than 40 hours a week. Are you fulfilled by the work and career opportunity at Accenture?
