I accepted a job at an MBB company a month ago, not thinking I’d get the job at Apple I was interviewing for at the same time. Ended up getting the offer, and accepted, so I had to go back to MBB company and tell them the job was no longer right for me. The manger was pretty mad (understandably), and I feel bad doing it, but I have to think about what’s best for my career. I never had interest in MBB, they head-hunted me, whereas Apple was the company I’ve aspired to work for for a long time.

You did the best thing for you. No one can blame you.

Eh I wouldn’t feel bad. That manager would have probably made your life rough

OP you did the right thing!

like

You did the right thing, good for you. Don’t feel that bad, I’m at MBB now and they have no soul so you couldn’t really hurt their feelings haha

like

I agree with C1 but just out of curiosity, why is apple better than MBB?

like

Just more aligned with what I wanted to do long term. MBB was more money for a more junior role than what I’m in now, whereas Apple has more of the culture, benefits, WLB, and exposure to different tech/products that I’m looking for

like

As a recruiter, you did the right thing. You need to do what’s best for you! I really only get upset if a candidate is rude to me and my team lol

like

The charade around "oh I didn't think I'd get the apple offer" is kind of annoying. It's your job to be transparent about who else you're interviewing with and either forcing in this case mbb to give you more time or accept the offer and abandon your other process. This was in your control

Funny, I had the same thing happen to me as a candidate, but at Afterpay. Went through 4 rounds, all of which had cases - only to get an offer that was reneged as soon as I got the docusign. Was the shittiest experience.

likefunny

Nope you gotta do what’s best for you period!

From the managers response, you now know what sort of people you were going to be spending 60-70 hours a week working with.
No reason to feel bad.

I did the same thing! You gotta do what you gotta do…the frustration of the manager is valid but it is what it is

Just graduated with Aerospace Engineering degree. I am interviewing for multiple positions at once with different companies. One gave me an offer and they want me to get back to them within 2 days. I still have other interviews scheduled and some for higher paying jobs (around 90k) What should I do?
I do like the company that gave me an offer but their base pay was 80k and they went up to 85k. Is asking for them to match the 90k too much? The position is associate systems engineer.

Been in the strat game for over a decade; I’ve realized that a strong department with clear process that is built on end to end problem solving (with time to think) is when I’m happiest vs this award show / case study grind. What are some agencies you all work or have worked at, that value strategy as a department and not a creative case study farm? Looking to figure out what’s next.

Hi everyone!!! 24, M, looking to connect with another guy :-)

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

I don't have a driving licence or a car, cause I have a health condition growing up and driving is not ideal for me. But my goal is to be a big 4 partner, but sometimes I am afraid they will ask me to travel to somewhere which is not on my subway line. I live in a city where the subway is accessible to clients, so it hasn't been an issue so far and sometimes I can Uber. And of course due to COVID, it's all remote now. I understand directors/partners usually travel much more and would worry!

911 Carrera S vs GTS

I really want to do a low key spec on my next car but it’s almost impossible to spec the GTS without black wheels/accents turning it into a more aggressive looking car.

Thoughts on if the GTS in a 7 speed is more engaging than the S enough to justify the compromise in wheel selection?
