I am 30 yrs old and working purely into accounting and bookkeeping from past 7 yrs. Thinking of a career switch into Finance mostly into Canadian capital market.

Hence planning to give CFA L1 in May 2024 just to get some kind of exposure before I make a move. Currently earning around 65k cad but will I be able to make same sort of money when I switch?

And what kind of skills should I develop so that I would be able to sell myself in the market.

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

I’m trying to transition full time into the Editorial realm, I have some experience, but I’ve had a very hard time getting full time work. So I’ve begun an online certificate program, in hopes it will give me a leg up, as my degree is in a different field. My question is has anyone done the same? And how do they feel it helped? I just left a Big 4 firm to Fund Accounting in hopes of better WLB, but now it’s looking like the hours will probably be even worse (60/70+ average weekly) throughout the year. I feel like I was misled during the interview process regarding the workload. Would it be a bad idea to try to return to my firm or another accounting firm? Another industry job? CAIA vs CFA?

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

I work for a late stage(ipo) start up, earlier this year we were acquired & since then they got rid of our yearly bonuses and gave us an ESOP grant.
2 RIFs later we are almost bare bones. Since we are coming up on our usual yearly evaluations many of us assumed (with multiple conversation from our managers) that pay raises and promotions were due.
In a recent All hands we found out that this year there will be no pay raises nor promotions based off merit. Is it time to jump ship?

Does the size of the deals you work on impact your exit opps? I'm considering a role at an MM firm (non-PA firm) and they mentioned the deals are usually in the $200M area of size, which I realize is smaller than big 4 deals
