I am 7 month pregnant and a special education teacher. I have an aggressive student that I did an FBA for and the admin said no to getting him one. He recently hit my stomach. What would you do? Do I file it somehow ?

Such behaviors should be reported. You have to be safe
, and your baby needs to be safe.

Immediate transfer... you can not risk injury of your baby.

Or get a medical leave. Take pics of any damage to your room when it happens. You're a mama, you gotta take care of two now. 💜

He’s aggression is noted. I did a functional behavior assessment. Admin told me to change his environment. Strategy is taking him for a walk . Problem is he elopes to other rooms . He tried to take off from me and I told him no . That’s when he hit my stomach

Perfect, then you got it!
Any adverse reaction to your teaching /disengage, call someone.
Paper trail for adverse reaction trials.
Rinse.
Repeat.
Successful cue to break from hit/run.
Paper trail positive trials.
Document saves you and supports your own BIP and IEP for future teachers.
Parents should be highly encouraged to use your technique at home. Have it noted you provided a technique that works within the document (teacher observation section)

Needs documentation and a parent conference. Address the issue so everybody is in the know that you are in a delicate state and everybody needs to be looking out for you. That is terrible to have to fear for your safety and that when this student escalates, they need to leave. Or to the office. SPED or not, if they don’t have their identified behavior supported they are not satisfying the legal document.

That sounds like a Worker's Compensation case. Injured at work while performing your job duties.

You can't be in a situation that is unsafe.

Teachers don’t get medical leave

She said she denied the one to one bc it’s his environment. He is adversive to sounds and kicks and hits kids if they cry . I’m in a class of four year olds . That’s one strategy we discussed … so I tried it .., obviously it didn’t work … this is great insight . Any other suggestions

Sheesh... admin doesn't have to be in the classroom and doesn't always make the best decisions when it comes to classroom management. If admin had to deal with these students in the classroom on a daily basis....with all the other students and all the other issues and requirements we have to cover.....

Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. Any advice would be appreciated!

Someone please tell me that I can get a rear facing child seat in the back of a mustang… otherwise it looks like I’ll have to buy a new family car to drive the little one around (wife doesn’t drive unfortunately).

Could be a good excuse to get a Taycan but was hoping I could just stick with my mustang. We said next car will be an EV didn’t think it would be so soon though!

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?

Anyone here adopt a puppy during the infertility struggle? Husband and I considering it to have something positive throughout this situation and thinking the extra companionship would be helpful. I work from home. Husband has had many family dogs and lots of experience with it, I’ve had a family cat before. But not sure if it’s actually a good idea - wondering if it would truly help make us feel better and keep our minds off of the struggles or if it would just add extra stress. Thoughts?

I have wanted to be in the trades since I will a child. In highschool I was pushed into university and away from mechanics. After 4 years of struggle I finally decided to just to work and figure out a new plan. I was surrounded by tradesmen and knew I wanted to be on the tools and yet didn't know how to get there. I waited 5 years for my company to give me an opportunity at an apprenticeship to no avail. So I took my savings and went back to school for electrical. Still trying to find work.
