I am a L10 at Accenture and am on track for promotion to L9 by the fall. I’m wondering if it’s worth it to stick around for the new salary and the network I’ve built here or if I should switch to another firm. I’m considering an Associate position with KPMG offering around $85K with likely promotion to Senior Associate in around a year (2022) and a Consultant position with EY offering $110K with likely promotion to manager in around 2 years (2023). I currently make $82K + bonus. Thoughts?

Take EY although you will not make manager in two years lol. There is SC between C and M, it will take you two years to get to SC and another 3-4 to Manager.

Likely promotion at a firm you haven't even started working at? Not sure if you're delusional or what lol

likeupliftingfunny

I’m just new to all this ☺️ I wanted to ask about promotional timelines to learn more about how the other company might be different. This was my first corporate job and I came from working in NGOs so I’m not as familiar with the customs.

Follow the money. Ignore the promises of promo. They are always BS.

I pull 140 all in as a L9 consultant 3 years YOE. Had same offers, decided to stay at ACN. Love the people and my WBL. We aren’t an advisory company - stay at ACN and try to find a niche that will differentiate you.

like

I mean definitely don’t get too comfortable but in my op I think that our company has a ton of room for growth, they are starting to invest in top tier talent, compensating people more and acquiring lots of companies.

I’m based out of NYC aligned to FS.

EY, chase the money

like

Definitely take any promises about timelines for advancement with a grain of salt ... They will tell anybody they can get to X level in Y years, but it all goes out the window when you actually join.

That being said... Even if you get promoted at ACN you will likely be in low to mid 90s. EY at 110k seems pretty tempting, you wouldn't reach that for a couple of years at absolute minimum otherwise

like

Got a 20k raise senior analyst to consultant, staying might be worth it

like

Either follow the money, or go all-in on the promo and then shop around later this year.

All the same work?

The KPMG and EY roles are both IT Strategy. I’m currently in the general Consulting Development Program at Accenture and would likely align to Supply Chain and Operations, CEO&Enterprise Strategy, or Consumer Goods & Services. My long term goal is to work in Sustainability Strategy or in Industry.

Take the highest pay

Same firm, different logo

If you get an offer, take it to your hr partner and see if there is any room for a counter

No. I would just be open with your PL and HR Partner about the opportunity you have and make sure you have an offer in hand. If they say they can’t match it, then you can decide to negotiate a plan if you wish to stay. Ultimately, it is more than pay in my opinion that should be your reason to jump.

All 3 are great firms and great resume builders. With that said, follow the money and go with EY.

Know this is a long shot, but if I’m counseled out of one MBB, what are the chances I could get an equivalent job at another? And if not another MBB, thinking that a T2 or B4 could be possible? I’m not even sure I want to stay in consulting, but also feel like I didn’t get a fair shot at it

Any advice on where to go after PR (financial & healthcare)? I have one year of experience and have been pretty disappointed with my current agency. I have a been actively interviewing & was thinking to go into the sales route. I graduated in 2021 and really have no idea where I want to end up. I’ve been talking to people & networking trying to figure out next steps— could use some insight. The culture at my current agency isn’t the best & the pay is basically unlivable for NYC. Any thoughts?
