Kia? Is that an acronym for something, or you getting a carwash? Seriously though, if you and the SO cannot talk a solution out, either an unstable equilibrium will result (or already has) with an unhappy family, or you will split. If you have been together long enough for 2 teenagers and a 9 year old, the bet is on the former. May be try an adult to adult convo with no judgment and listen to the other person's honest take, in a happy setting after both of you have had a good time doing something fun together?
1) Better division of labor, 2) teenagers step up and help out, or 3) hire help.
Teenagers can keep the house clean for sure. Cooking might take some training but my 10 year old nephew (oldest of 3 kids) cooks their family dinner once a week
“Hi Mom, are you busy? Could we talk for a minute about economies of scale and substitution benefits via network effect?”
Tell your teenagers to step it up?
If you have 4 kids and no help I’m not sure what you’re asking here? Hire a nanny? Seek a better division of labor? Talk to you spouse/partner?
I’m unclear where the issue is. Your spouse is part time and you have a somewhat flexible job and none of your kids are super young. What exactly would you like to get help with? Parenting? Structuring and planning the week?
your biggest problem is purchasing a Kia
You need helpers.
- Kids get some chores - will teach them discipline.
- Hire a maid for house cleaning; some will do laundry, change sheets, etc.
- look into meal prep kits or service
In general, pay for things you don’t enjoy doing or things not worth your time. Not all of your “spare time” should be chores. If that’s the case you’re not leaving any time for re-energizing yourself
Where’s your spouse in all of this?
I suspect you need to have an honest conversation with your spouse about splitting responsibilities on the weekend
We use a maid to come once a week to clean the house. She does the majority of the cleaning so we can focus on cooking and groceries during the weekend.
Yes
Negotiate an arrangement that works for both of you. Lots of communication. Be adults, stand up for yourselves, compromise, work it out.
I feel like you can outsource at least some of the chores like cleaning and possibly meal prep (if you’re ok to buy pre packed ingredients at least during the week to save time)
Works 24 hours per week. Off two days during the week. 3 teenagers and a 9.5 year long old
@SM2 then that’s OP fault for raising brats and I don’t feel bad
