A decade of experience in LA. The following are names i consistently have heard as being sweaty and having difficult partners: Seyfarth, Mcguirewoods, GT, Paul Hastings
Any insights in Duane Morris and Troutman Pepper?
Anyone telling you "horrible things" about California employment market, respectfully, doesnt know what they're talking about. The market is booming and if youre a warm body with employment experience you'll find a job. The Chambers bands are pretty accurate
You may want to disclose the name of your firm if you want an answer to this question.
I would guess JL. Their California offices are horrible from what I’ve heard.
I enjoy working in my CA office at a big 4.
I think Bay Area and LA are gonna be super different so probs depends where you wanna move? I can only speak for the Bay but there are a few places I would steer clear of for sure
lol it’s a valley girl thing. I am just trying to know what places have a bad rep and steer clear.
I’m at a market-paying Am Law 200 firm in LA and love it. I also receive about 10 emails from recruiters a week, so, no, the market is not horrible.
Are you looking to do Biglaw, Big 4, small firm?
I do L&E in LA at a small firm. I was at Littler before in a different state but I worked with people in the LA and Irvine office and they were cool. I’ve heard good things about Sheppard Mullin. I also interviewed at Morgan Lewis and the partners seemed fine and they seemed like they needed the help. Littler would be a solid choice if your concerned about just getting in the market. But it will be a pay cut if your at a firm paying market right now.
