I am a retired surgical technician with 40 yrs of experience...After leaving the workforce 4 yrs ago, I am discovering that I miss the job, and feel that I could come back to the profession on a Per Diem basis.
My question is: How old is to old to be looking for a job? I am in good health, and still running on all cylinders....lol
I am quite proficient in an ambulatory setting , and have lots of solid experience in ENT, Plastic, ophthalmology and minor GYN/General
Thanks for reading this!

Hello

In my opinion, as long as you're healthy, still have the skills, and remain passionate about your work, there's no such thing as being "too old." Forty years of experience is an invaluable asset that many younger professionals cannot replace.

Especially in outpatient surgery, experience, judgment, and attention to detail are often more important than age. Many medical institutions are currently in dire need of experienced professionals willing to work part-time.

If you still love this job, I think it's absolutely worth trying to return. The worst outcome is simply that someone says "no," but the best outcome might be that you rediscover a career you love. Best of luck!

I don’t think there’s any harm in trying to return to the job, no matter your age! You’ve clearly got plenty of experience, I say go for it!

What do you think about the mismatch of labor and employment laws and the modern nature of our economy after the technological boom? Am I the only one who thinks (and am I crazy to think) there are some benefits to workers from the gig economy, and it might be best long term to pass new employment laws to ensure worker protections while maintaining these benefits instead of trying to shove the current gig economy back into the 1960s? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I am leaving retail pharmacy after 15 years. I am opening a 403b pharmacy for a FQHC. I don't believe that retail pharmacy will be able to sustain itself with patient costs skyrocketing. Hi all. I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder type 2 and it’s been hard to heal with the ups and downs of a very competitive sales position in the current market. I have 7 years healthcare sales and 1.5 years as a MLO.
