I am a senior business analyst (~2 yoe in MBB, masters in data science) considering a chief of staff role in a high growth PE-backed company. Can anyone help me understand the typical total comp range (base and bonus) I can expect and whether the COS typically gets equity? What factors can drive comp higher or lower?

I have an answer for anyone curious now that I’ve been through it lol. Very common to expect 150 TC with a base around 130 or 135. Especially with negotiation and competing offers you can push TC closer to 160-175.

Where are you based? I’m in the Bay Area and most of these are $150-200K base salary roles for 4-6y of experience

A lot of these higher paying roles come through headhunters… agree with you on 3-6 years yoe esp. if you’re on job boards…

Additional Posts in Chief of Staff

I’m interviewing for an EA (not your typical role) to a serial entrepreneur/CEO who is also interviewing for a Chief of Staff. They have mentioned I would make a great CoS based on my prev experience & could see me being a COO in the next 10 yrs. After playing back our last meet, I realise the CEO was trying to tease out of me/get me to probe on interest for CoS role. I am interested but also don’t want to talk myself out of the EA role as I really want to work for this individual – advice pls?
