Well try and delay it as much as you can before the offer - they might give you a couple of weeks but aren’t going to wait around until after your cdc results in April.
You could also try talking to your CDA to get a pulse check on the narrative to get a sense for what’s coming. If you were not on target in the fall and had an average case and some beach time, probably better off lining up an offer. Separately, even if you are transitioned, depending on tenure, you could have 4-8 months to find your next role so you don’t have to accept something that isn’t of interest right now
Agreed, can you get any sense from your CDA of where things stand?

Why not try to land and convert interviews at your first choice companies?
Are you on a PIP? If you’re asked to leave, won’t you still be offered search time? Is there someone you can talk to internally who can give you a sense of how your review will play out? That should help determine how you approach the interviews! Just remember no job is perfect. Have you pinpointed why these aren’t your first choice?
And then buy time. I suspect buying 8 weeks after offer stage will be difficult. Thoughts?
What in the world is your strategy here?
It's how BCG makes money selling strategy projects. Many call it "true consulting"

Take your time and convert them into offers as your back-up options. Most of time you will get a pretty good sense of your performance and review outcome. Could take anywhere from 3 to 6 + months to find a viable exit in this market.
