I am finishing my last internship, where I make 21/hr and I have started interviewing for a couple different positions/companies to start my first career job. A lot of the pay seems low to me (26/hr to 30/hr). I have an interview coming up that has a salary of 70k starting which is a fair starting point I think based on other positions I have seen (75-85k for positions with around 5-10 years experience). How do I negotiate with a company when I am just starting my career? Any advice?

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me.
