I am having a hard time at work. I switched employer and industry over a year ago and it has been a lot of cleaning up, coaching, and hiring. Now that things are good with the team I lead and accounting functions, I am dealing with toxic people in upper management (from other departments). It feels like too much.

For those who stay in one place L-term, how do you deal with this (assuming you have experienced difficult moments and thought of moving on)? Any recommendations?

I hopped around early in my career and wish I had stayed where I was at several places. There are difficult people everywhere, just let them be. Find joy with the team you have built. Not easy to do in the moment though.

Job hopping is not taken lightly anymore. I’m sticking for at least one more year & I wanted out a year ago.

Not sure if this helps but I really try to take a step back and see if I’m upset with the job or the things happening in the job. For example the toxicity factor. I’d look to see if this is something that you’ve seen before or if it’s something you can fight against. If it’s too unbearable I’d leave and then be candid for the reason you are leaving. If you decide to stay id fight hard against the toxic culture and if you end up getting pushback then you know it’s not the culture you want to be at. I’ve found that if I’m vocal ahead of time then things have changed for the better.

Will there be any hike if I moved to associate 2 in pwc ac, if yes how much can I expect?

Hi all, I’m looking to learn about how one can transition from PwC AC to PwC India.
I joined PwC AC Bangalore as a fresher and have been working here for 13 months.
I was randomly assigned to SAP, but I’ve realised I really want to move away from this and move towards what I originally planned on pursuing i.e. data analysis, I was already well versed in ML and DL with python.
If anyone has made a similar transition, it would be great if you could help me understand how do I go about this.

Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.
