I am lateraling because my firm has forced us back into the office 5 days a week. My office isn’t super social and we are all slammed, so going into the office consists of sitting alone in my office, just like I would at home, except I wasted an hour getting ready and commuting, am in uncomfortable clothes, and am less efficient. I am actually miserable sitting alone in a cold, drab office as opposed to hanging out in a beautiful home office with my dog.

People in power: take note.

Anyone know if the wellness subsidy would cover an office chair? Or does D cover office supplies or nah? Looking to upgrade my home office. Thx!

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

I’ve made it 5+ years in a NY M&A practice and have consistent exceeding expectations reviews. I’ve had a few mental breakdowns because of work during this time, but thankfully made it through.
