I'm sure it can be done. The problem with our industry is that others outside this industry don't feel we'll have much to offer,so we're not the first candidate they approach. You will also find that employers initial employment offering gets switched to a driving role which actually is more in line with our experience. No,they don't consider past experience to be relevant. Yes,I've considered a return to school or some trade related school, but I still wouldn't have what they consider as relevant experience. When using the job search engines, you know the ones,I put in everything I've had experience at. The only jobs that pop up though are driving jobs and just because I managed to keep a job for 20 years in the same industry. Sometimes the job search engines even send me a job for the job I just left. Now why would I go back there? The only job they may consider us for is dispatch, but a dispatch gig with back up driver responsibilities or yard hostling duties which means we still have to maintain that license and chain to the DOT. I wish you all the luck. If you make it out completely, please post the hows.

Have you already investigated desk jobs in the trucking industry? They need logistics, sales, HR, and other functions, and your knowledge from the job could be helpful.
You might try Oklahoma Department of Transportation or Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
